Pratical information and visa Venue The workshop venue is on the Château-Gombert Technopole. Talks will be given in an Amphitheatre of the IM2NP laboratory on the site of the Polytech school. Hotels Warning! We advise you to book your hotel without delay, the period of the conference being a high tourist season in Marseille Marseille offers a wide range of hotel rooms in various price categories. We recommand choosing an hotel in the Marseille city center, which is a more lively place, and at about 25mn by public transportation to the workshop venue. ICTW participants are free to choose their accommodation, and we kindly ask you to do all bookings directly with the hotel. Please note that most hotel reservations require a valid credit card to guarantee the booking. Transportation (from the Airport/Railway station) To reach the city center from the Marseille Provence airport you can take a bus shuttle (8.30€ one way), which will bring you to the Saint Charles railway station. From there the vieux port is a 20 min walk (going down the St Charles stairs, following the Boulevard d'Athènes then the Canebière), or you can take the line 1 of the subway (exit Vieux-Port). Transportation (between the old port and the Conference venue) To reach the Conference venue from downtown, take the line 1 of the subway to the terminus La Rose. At the metro station exit (on the right hand side) take the bus B3B to the stop Polytech Marseille. The conference venue will be located on the opposite sidewalk, in a blue building on your right. A sign will be put in place since the bus stop. Route maps and timetables are available on the rtm website. Visiting Marseille Those of you who plan to spend some leisury time before or after the workshop will find very useful information on the website of the "office de tourisme", the later being located very close to the Vieux Port. Beside the Vieux Port, highlights include the mucem and its surroundings, Notre Dame de la Garde and the 360° panorama there, the Panier district with the "Vieille Charité". And last but not least, the Calanque National Park is accessible by public transportation and is a hiker and rock climber paradise ! (if you plan to go there take hiking shoes and ample supplies of water and sun cream with you) |
